Chester, CT — in the heart of the Connecticut River Valley — is small in size but big on food.

We proudly support eight food related businesses — including two fine dining restaurants that support local farmers and fisherman.

We recently opened our very own Food Co-Op on the two floors below The Upstairs Kitchen. The Chester Food Co-op is a source of ingredients for The Upstairs Kitchen and the Sunday Farmers Market held in the center of town during the summer season.

Connecticut cooking classes for the modern age

We live in a fast paced society that has let go of some very important traditions from our past. Our ancestors lived off the land much more than we do today yet suffered far fewer aliments. They looked at the family dynamics of eating much differently. Food took hours to prepare and was enjoyed by the entire family. Time was taken to enjoy each meal and share the pleasure of healthy eating.

The Upstairs Kitchen offers cooking classes that celebrate the traditions of the past while helping our students incorporate cooking methods into their modern lives.
